Local Leaders Unite to Support Small Business Recovery After the Eaton Fire

Altadena, CALIFORNIA

On June 25, more than 50 community members—including business owners, nonprofit leaders, and local government officials—came together in Altadena for a powerful evening centered on recovery, resilience, and rebuilding.

This gathering was hosted as part of the Dena Business Resilience Project, an initiative launched by Hope Ventures in response to the Eaton Fire. The fire devastated parts of the community and disrupted the livelihoods of many local entrepreneurs. Our mission is to walk alongside these business owners as they recover—not just by offering resources, but by building relationships, fostering collaboration, and restoring hope.

Throughout the evening, attendees heard stories of impact, learned about the challenges facing fire-affected businesses, and explored tangible ways to support recovery efforts. New partnerships were formed, ideas were shared, and momentum began to build for what’s ahead.

Why It Matters

Small businesses are more than storefronts—they’re the backbone of our neighborhoods. When a disaster hits, they often face the greatest hurdles with the fewest resources. The Dena Project is here to change that. Through a network of community support, coaching, grant opportunities, and targeted training, we’re equipping entrepreneurs with the tools they need to recover and grow stronger than before.

WhAt’s Next

This event was just the beginning. In the coming weeks, we’ll be launching more opportunities for business owners to receive hands-on support—from mentorship programs to accelerator training, and access to financial tools. We’ll also be inviting volunteers and community members to get involved in practical, meaningful ways.
